Art Expo

Today the school was lucky enough that the teachers put on an art expo for the whole school. So we travelled around the school to look at the amazing art work. First we started at the year 5 and 6's and then we went to the year 1's , 2's , 3's etc. Everyone in the school did at least 1 or 2 pieces of art to display. Rm 5 art was based on the famous artiste called Andy Warhol. the art he did was pop art. We had to draw our self's like that drawing of Marilyn Monroe from Andy Warhol. My favourite art work was the tie die they had some really different colours and designs. I just want to say thank you to all of the teachers that organised there classes so everyone could have a good time.

Why do we need school

 Why do we need school

Introduction: Do we really need school? School is a place where children go everyday to learn about new things about the world. In New Zealand people have to go to school from the ages 5-16. We go to school so we can learn, so we can get a job one day and so we can learn to get along with others.

Paragraph 1: children go to school to learn about many different things. School is a place where kids can learn about lots of different things like reading, maths and writing. All of the things that you learn at school may help you in your future. When you're out shopping and you're trying to work out your money. If you didn't go to school then you wouldn't know how to do that.

Paragraph 2:Going to school may help you get a job. When you go to school you learn many different skills. For example if you are very good at maths and you keep learning it then you could be an accountant. Or if you were really good at writing you could write story or something like that. Or if you were good at reading then you could become an editor so you could edit peoples books.

Paragraph 3: School helps us make friends. At school we learn how to socialise with others. Sometimes our teachers put us into groups when we learn so we can work together and learn about each others ways of learning. Also at school we have sports. Sports help us to share and help each other.

Conclusion: In conclusion we go to school so we can learn, hopefully get a job and socialise with others. There are definitely more reasons why we go to school then just learn, getting a job and socialising.

Reflection

A few minutes ago Rm 5 reflected on the year 8 leadership camp and the year 7 step up program. we had to think about what we wanted to add, keep, stop and why do we have these events.

ADD -  more food, Games,

KEEP - Stacking cups, games, more food, art, sports, movie and lollies

STOP - Singing, puzzles and teachers.

Why do we have these event -  We do these events so we can improve in our self and learn how to work together.

caption speeches

These are some things that I heard from the leaders of the year 8 leadership camp and the year 7 leadership school.

  • Really proud of their group for stepping up and being leaders.

  • There were lots of fun activities.

  • Supporting other people if they didn't want to do the activatie.

  • Learnt how to step up and be a leader

  • Really enjoyed being a leader and watching other people step up.

  • Camp could really be good for you so you could step out of your confert zone.

  • Stepping out of my confert zoneand being a leader.

  • Liked everyone gettIng along.

  • When some leaders were struggling the team helped out

  • People in doms were sleeping together because they were scared.

I just want to say I am so excited to go to year 8 camp!

The Year 7 Leadership school

year 7 leadership school.

The reason why I called it the year 7 leadership school is because the year 8s have gone of to year 8 leadership camp so last week from wednesday till friday it was just the year 7.

The first day of the year 7 leadership school. The teachers sorted us out into our groups so we could make a name and a chant. I was in team Thunder with lots of other people. The other team names were strikers and duck life. Very creative. Team thunders captions where Nina and Mohamed
The second day We started our sports rotations team thunder did netball first it was really fun. After That we did activities. Each teacher had there own activity to do. Team thunder was with Mrs. Moala first we had to solve Riddles and mysterious. And Ms Tipene's class did art. Mrs Ilaoa did stacking cups. Last but not least Friday. We didn't do rotations we did games with our whole team the first game was stacking cups. Teams get points for winning and for cheering the best. Team thunder was the best cheerers for three rounds after that we did a singing challenge kinda like a riff off from pitch perfect it was so fun. Soon after that we had lunch a big shared lunch with pizza lots and lots of chips with cake and chicken and many many more food.

Myths & legends passport

Task Description: This is team fives passport. so we have been going to different classes and learning about different myths and legends. here is my Passport.

My fight

Task Description: This is my reading. it is about a fight between two boys. have a look at my work to find out more.

What would I do if I found $50

What would I do if I found $50?

What would I do if I found $50? To be honest I have no clue what I would do because I've never been in that situation. But if I found $50 in my classroom at school then I would probably give it to my teacher for her to take care of. If it was in a different area, let's say GI. If I found $50 in GI on the street not many people around then I would probably keep it. When I pick up the money and no ones looking, I guess I don’t feel like a bad person but when there's people there looking than when they see if they see me pick it up than I feel like a bad person but anyways. If I saw someone drop money on the ground then I would definitely pick it up and give it back to that person.

What would the consequences be if I picked up $50 of the ground and keeped it? I don’t know but you would have to get in trouble but if you don’t you're lucky but karma would come and bite you in the behind. What if you gave it back what would happen? you would get a big thank you or something like that I don’t know many ways that people can repay you by bringing their money back. I’m not saying if you find money on the ground take it and not give it back but how could they repay you?

What would you do if you found $50 on the ground and do you believe in karma?

Bootcamp by Shanna Fa'aita

Today we read Bootcamp by Shanna Fa'aita. We talked about te whare tapa wha.

spaghetti tower teamwork challenge

Today I went to my literacy class which is room 4 with Miss Stone. We shuffled into our reading groups. My reading group is called Dahl Kauri, Rae Jae Hannah, Nina and Marie are in Dahl. So Miss Stone told us that we have to work together to make a tall tower strong enough to hold a marshmallow out of spaghetti and string. Our tower went really well until the end it was starting to fall. The marshmallow was too heavy but it was just a marshmallow on one piece of spaghetti. At first we were going to make it a square but then we realized that the strongest shape is a triangle so we restarted and made a triangle. We were all trying to make it strong but we were trying to make it tall so we kind of made it weaker as we went on. Once we reached the top of the tower it started to collapse. All of the different reading groups were challenging each other. Ihimaera was the winning group there tower was high and had the marshmallow on the top and it wasn't falling over either it was like the sky tower kinda. But our tower was a bust but it was so fun to reconnect with my reading group.

Playing Ki o rahi

Today Rm 5 versed Rm 1 at ki o rahi. ki o rahi is a fun game that we learnt about last week for our reading. It was so fun playing ki o rahi my team won both of our games. Ms. Va'afusuaga and Tyson were referring the two games that were going on. one game was on the court near team five and the other game was on the netball courts. They split us up into four different teams. Two teams played each other and the other two teams played each other. The teams that lost would verse each other and the teams that won would verse each other. There are two rounds in each game. In the first half one team in Defence and the other team is attack, then in the second half they switch. Ki o rahi is a mix between ripper and netball and lots more different games mixed into one. If you want to play ki o rahi you have to be really good at catching the ball.

My narrative writing

Today we did a writing test. we had to write about a picture but I didn't really end up doing that. But I think it's pretty good story. when I was writing my story I was thinking of movies but not any movie a movie about my story. HOPE YOU ENJOY.

A Few days ago there was a letter for me. I usually don't get letters. Once I opened it the phone rang and it was one of my best friends Jayah. She said that she got a letter saying it was about a treasure hunt that we signed up for years ago we totally forgot. Soon after I looked at my letter it was exactly the same. After we called Lepisi And Yolanda my other best friends. They said that they got a letter to. So we all met up at our clubhouse. We decided that we were gonna go. The winning team wins 1 THOUSAND DOLLARS. But we wondered who’s the other team?. The next day we got to meet the other team they were really amazing but so mean. There were three girls and one boy but it didn't matter we knew we had this.

We were at the starting line. We had our map. We had our gear. And we where ready to go. They said that there were challenges along the way but they got harder and harder. We thought we had it but we didn't but we never gave up. The levels went harder and harder trickier and trickier. We still made it. The hardest one was when we had to swing from vines so we wouldn't have to walk in quicksand all of us made it but at the last minute lepisi fell.

Luckily Jayah was really smart so she knew what to say and do. She told her to stay still and be calm because if you move around too much it will just take you down faster. She was in the middle so it was hard to pull her out. We couldn't grab her and suddenly she disappeared. But just then Yolanda heard something “HELP HELP” she heard it was Lepisi coming out of a hole she was safe but very dirty. I guess they didn't want anyone to get heart.

We finally caught up to the other team. But then we realised that our map is sending us different ways but we still followed our map. Even if we didn't win it was still a lot of fun. We were getting tired but we had to keep climbing once we got to the top of a small little mountain. Well it didn't seem like a small little mountain. Anyway a few moments after that we all stabbed our flags at the top of the mountain. A helicopter came to take us back to the start to collect our prize but we didn't even know if we won or not.

We didn't win. but we still had something. Gift cards to the apple store but it was still better than nothing. We were proud of ourselves for trying our best and we wondered what we would do with 1 thousand dollars anyway.

Taha challenge - Taha Hinengaro

Today I did another Taha challenge - Taha Hinengaro. we had to meditate for about 3-5 minutes with nice calming music. And this is what I saw.

I felt very calm and relaxed when I was meditating or whatever you would like to call it. It was very calming and I saw a big waterfall and my family in my mind or like I don’t really know what to call what I was seeing. It was a forest. A really big forest little kids were building forts with wood laying around older kids playing in the water and doing bombs. There was a big waterfall and a house in the distance. Mums and dads taking photos, papas chilling out on their chairs. And some cousin trying to find the perfect spot for a selfie.

After we stopped I felt really calm and relaxed and a bit tired. It felt really good to feel calm and happy. You guys should try doing that for about 3-5 minutes with nice calming music it’s really cool.

here's the link so you can try do the taha challenge to.
